Dental Bridges

Complete your healthy and confident smile with a range of dental bridges options

When the American Dental Association was formed in the early 1800s, dental services included tooth replacement such as dentures and dental bridges. Here at Liberty Dental Group in Brentwood, California, we take the very best attributes of such well-established or time-tested treatments and combine them with the latest dental technologies and research that modern dentistry has to offer to us as practitioners. The result is to restore or replace teeth that look, feel, and function naturally. We have also vetted and selected only those products, techniques, and technologies with a proven track record of safety and clinical effectiveness. Our dentists, Drs Mike and Emily Molosky have invested in treatments and tools that go a step further in ensuring utmost patient comfort and a pleasant, stress-free experience.

Dentist-approved bridges

Modern patients who are missing one tooth or a group of teeth can benefit from a wide range of dental bridge “designs.” In consultation with you and following an examination, Drs Mike or Emily may recommend:

  • Removable dental bridges – Replacement teeth are formed from durable and tooth-like materials. The teeth sit on top of a pinkish-red framework designed to replicate the appearance of gum tissue. The bridge may be held in place with attachments that connect to the remaining teeth. These bridges are removed for daily cleansing as advised by our dentists.
  • Fixed dental bridges – As a “fixed” restoration, this dental bridge is secured in the mouth and is not removable. The process starts by removing some tooth structure to reduce the size of the teeth on either side of the gap. These neighboring teeth are known as abutments. Once the abutment teeth are prepared, impressions are taken to guide the fabrication of crowns. These crowns will be placed on top of these teeth. The crowns are joined to a replacement tooth (or teeth), known as a pontic. They are then bonded securely as a single piece to the reduced, prepared abutment teeth. In doing so, the gap between the teeth is closed. The crowned neighboring teeth function as anchors to hold the pontic in place. Our dentists are happy to go over proper cleaning techniques and products to aid in removing bacteria and food particles from underneath the bridge.
  • Implant bridges – This modern alternative to conventional removable and fixed bridges is conservative, preserves utmost tooth structure, and supports superior stability, durability, comfort, and satisfaction. Instead of being supported by other teeth or by clasps or attachments, the replacement teeth in this system are held in place by dental implants. Each implant functions as a tooth root. It is placed in the jaw and joins naturally to the surrounding bone. The bridge is later connected to the implant, and it can be treated like natural teeth! No special care or cleaning requirements are necessary to keep this alternative healthy. Also, implants keep the bone strong. You avoid the devastating consequences associated with bone loss to your facial aesthetics, chewing function, and speech.

Now, implant-retained bridges cost more upfront than their older, conventional alternatives. However, they may be the best investment that you can make in your smile, health, and wellbeing.
